It's Monday, February 29th! What Are You Reading?

The Tsar of Love and Techno

It's been a while since I did one of these! I am currently between adult books, but I think I am going to start The Tsar of Love and Techno by Anthony Marra later today or tomorrow. Tsar is one of the 17 books in this year's Tournament of Books shortlist.

The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1)

The Young Elites by Marie Lu is a book that my son read earlier this year. I like to try to read some of the books that he reads, although I can't keep up with all of them. Also, the library where I work has an employee children's literature challenge every year in January and February, and YA counts.

Inkheart (Inkworld, #1)

Finally, I am reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke aloud to my other son. Thankfully, none of the characters have come out of the book!

The Trouble With Chickens (J.J. Tully Mystery #1)Sisters

If I have time I might try to squeeze in one more book for the library challenge, probably either The Trouble with Chickens by Doreen Cronin or Sisters by Raina Telgemeier. They are both pretty short and shouldn't take too long.

What are you reading this week?

  1. Is Inkheart the first or second book? I read the first one and own--somewhere--the second one. I enjoyed it and, when I find my books, will start reading them to my daughter.

    1. I loved A Constellation of Vital Phenomena and appreciate the fact that Marra is writing about a region that doesn't get a lot of attention. He has made me want to seek out writers native to the region, but there doesn't appear to be very many that are published in English.

  3. The A. Marra book looks like one I might enjoy. Thanks for posting about it Rachel.

    1. It is a collection of linked short stories. If you are new to Marra, I would start with his novel. For me it is the better book, at least so far!

  4. I still have to read Marra's first one and I was blown away by the Tsar. My favorite reading experience in a LONG time and I am so hoping it goes for in the Tournament of Books.
