It's Monday, April 4th! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's a new week and (past) time for the weekly Monday post! "It's Monday! What Are You Reading?" is a weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date

Here is what I am reading this week:

A Brief History of Seven Killings

Yes, I am still reading/listening to A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James, BUT I am about 20 minutes from the end now. I expect that I will easily finish it during my morning commute tomorrow.

All Things Cease to Appear

I wanted something a little less heavy to read at times when I didn't have the attention needed for the previous book, so I picked up All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage. I am not sure where it is going, but I can say that it appears determined to make me dislike everyone in it. Thankfully I do not need to like the characters to enjoy a book.

And that's it for me. I have pretty much the same books on deck as last week, plus I have 21 holds available at the library.

Up next, I think are The Watsons Go to Birmingham--1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis, Forty Rooms by Olga Grushin, and Bluets by Maggie Nelson.

What are you reading this week?

  1. Appears determined to make me dislike everyone in it - HA! Does that kill a book for you or can you still enjoy a book where you dislike all the characters? I'm in the latter camp...I think.

    1. I can still enjoy it if it has something else to recommend it: wonderful writing, setting, propulsive plot.

  2. Hahaha, I totally can't get through a book if the characters are all loathsome. I get tired of spending time with them!

    1. It definitely has to have some other appeal if the characters are awful people. Sometimes I give myself permission to skim.

  3. Holy cow, 21 holds is a lot of books! How many times a week do you usually go to the library?

    1. I work there part-time, so 2-4 times. I love it!
